Here in Chicago most cyclists head down into the basement for trainer rides. But that is not high on my list unless I need a specific workout. Instead I’ve learned how to dress for the elements enabling me to ride in almost any temperature.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t love it when the mercury drops into the teens. But if the sun is out, and you hit the trails on a fat bike, winter riding can be lots of fun.
Recently Ride Illinois, the state’s advocacy group asked me to speak on the topic of ‘Dressing for cold weather cycling.’ Watch the recording and learn some tips and tricks. Like did you know there’s such a thing as wool sports bras. Yep, Icebreaker wool bras are one of my favorites. It’s another layer of warmth and the fabric wicks moisture away. Believe it or not, you can work up a sweat riding in the winter time.
