Sun Protection for the Endurance Athlete

In the past, whenever partaking in outside activities I’d rarely apply sunscreen above the eye line. All too often I’d start sweating and inevitably sunscreen would get in my eyes and burn. A few years back I underwent MOHS surgery to remove basal cells in two places above the eye line, just along the hairline. My derm said it’s not if but when it will come back in another location. Sure enough, I just had a precancerous spot removed above the eye line and one on my shin.

Over the years I’ve tried all sorts of sunscreen products labeled “sweatproof” but they’d still burn my eyes. Last summer I discovered Zealios Sun Barrier sunscreen. I was already a big fan of their other products specifically designed for endurance athletes including Betwixt chamois cream and Race Relief. So I figured why not try it.

It was summertime and I slathered up before each ride. No matter how much I sweated, Sun Barrier never once burned my eyes!

Recently I had a chance to sit down with Stacey Kiefer, Director of Sales at Zealios to discuss head to toe sun protection. View the video interview to learn some tips on staying protected from the sun on your next ride, run, or triathlon.
